Kannur: Allegations have erupted that panchayat level volunteers in Kannur are being discriminated politically. It is alleged that the volunteer pass was issued only to CPM in many regions of the district.
Volunteers under the panchayat are working to help the needy and for the home delivery service during the lockdown. However, it is alleged that many panchayats in the district are discriminating in issuing passes to the people registered for volunteering work.
The BJP and Yuva Morcha workers were sidelined and the passes were given only to the CPM.
Complaints have also come for neglecting the experienced volunteers. At the same time, protests have erupted against various panchayats for playing politics at the time of distress.
