Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has forwarded a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking permission to ply non-stop trains for stranded Keralites in other states.
The decision comes amid criticism by the opposition including the BJP. Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala blamed the government for failing to acquire special trains.
In the letter, the chief minister demanded that the Keralites be brought back in trains that carried migrant workers from Kerala. So far, five trains have taken migrant labourers from Kerala to their native places.
