Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Kerala, only 15 per cent of them have been found to be transmitted through contact, said Health Minister KK Shailaja. She said that the state is now witnessing the second wave of coronavirus infection.
The number of cases have been surging due to the flow of people into the state from outside. In the first phase 30 per cent cases were reported through contact, but now it has reduced to half, said the Minister.
The Minister said that however, there has been no community spread of coronavirus till now in Kerala and the government is working intensely to prevent such a happening. Contact tracing team is very efficient and they are tracing all contacts.
The Minister also affirmed that there was no increase in cases of peripheral pneumonia anywhere in Kerala.
