Kanhangad: An autorickshaw driver who was injured after a jackfruit fell on him on May 19, has succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The deceased Kodom Belur native Robin Thomas (44) had tested positive for COVID-19 but after four days it turned out to be negative.
The accident led to spinal cord injury and he was taken to Kanhangad district hospital. Later he was shifted to Kannur government medical college. Prior to his surgey, Robin was subjected for a coronavirus test. The surgery was postponed after he tested positive.
He was infected with the virus infection through contact, however the source of the contact has not yet traced.
Robin had climbed halfway on the tree in his courtyard and the jackfruit was stuck on another branch. The fruit slipped and fell over him following he lost his control and was knocked down to the ground.
Robin Thomas is survived by wife Alphonsa (Bindhu) and children Riya and Ron.
