Kochi: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has issued notice four Malayalam channles, including a CPM-owned channel that aired fake news in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. Apart from party-based Kairali channel, BMS issued notices to 24 News, Media One and News 18 Kerala for defamatory remarks.
The BMS, through its advocate has sought a compensation of Rs 5 crore against the media which they say, has deliberately dragged their name.
These media had reported on Friday that a BMS leader was involved in the gold smuggling racket. It was reported that the BMS leader, a customs officer, had intervened to rescue key accused Swapna Suresh and her gang. BMS issued a statement denying this allegation, however the media was not ready to withdraw the news.
