Thiruvananthapuram: Temples that fall under Travancore Devaswom Board will allow devotees to enter inside the premises from August 17, which happens to be Chingam 1. However, Sabarimala temple will remain closed for devotees.
Only five persons at a time will be allowed entry into the temple. Children below the age of 10 years and adults above 60 years will not be permitted entry.
Devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple before 6 am and between 6.30 pm and 7 pm.
The devotees have been directed to wear a face mask and maintain social distance at the temples.
The Devaswom Board is going through a major financial crisis as devotees are not making their visit to the temples due to coronavirus outbreak. The hasty decision is an idea to improve the economic situation.
Earlier, Hindu organizations had protested against the decision of the Devaswom Board to allow darshan to the devotees due to the surge in coronavirus cases.
