Thiruvananthapuram: After a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has decided to make arrangements to facilitate Onam celebrations in compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines.
The police have been directed to ensure that people maintain social distance in public places. Onam feats and functions in public places have to be avoided. Shops will remain open from 7 am to 7 pm and home delivery will be permitted.
People can dine in hotels and restaurants by maintaining social distancing. Hotels can function till 9 pm. Hotels and resorts can reopen after they disinfect the properties.
The state government has directed district collectors and the health department to increase COVID testing.
The health department should prepare guidelines for necessary precautions to be taken in view of the large amount of flowers that will be brought from other states during Onam.
