Thiruvananthapuram: Bharatiya Janata Party is observing a black day today in the state after police unleashed charges on the party workers who were protesting at the premises of the Secretariat, following the interrogation of Minister K T Jaleel by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the gold smuggling scandal.
Protests will be held in all district constituencies demanding K T Jaleel’s resignation. Party president K Surendran said that BJP will continue its agitation till Jaleel resigns as Minister.
Protests erupted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam and Palakkad districts. The leaders have decided to hold strong protests in the coming days as well.
The ABVP has also demanded the resignation of the higher education minister directly involved in the gold smuggling case. The ABVP also said that a minister like KT Jaleel, who has been accused of being involved in the case on several occasions, was defaming the education community in Kerala.
