Thiruvananthapuram: A group of CPM members collectively joined Bharatiya Janata Party in the state’s capital. A branch committee including local leaders of Venganur panchayath has joined the BJP.
District President Advocate VV Rajesh gave membership to the newcomers to the BJP. Members of the Labour Branch Committee under the CPM Kovalam Local Committee are the ones who joined the saffron party.
Venganur panchayat member Mini Venu Gopal, Chandran Nair, Sarala Kumari and former branch secretary Ramachandran joined the BJP.
Citing the reason for joining the BJP, the members said that they were fed up with the CPM’s betrayal.
Welcoming the new members from the CPM to the BJP, VV Rajesh said it was just a beginning. Many more CPM leaders will join the BJP in the future.
Six Congress Janata Dal workers have also joined the BJP.
