Kochi: Minister K T Jaleel could not answer to the National Investigation Agency’s questions in connection with the gold smuggling case. As per sources, he did not give clear answer as to why the Central government was not informed about receiving of religious text through diplomatic channel.
The NIA said that it is clear from the Minister’s statement that it he has not complied with the rules in its dealings with the UAE consulate. Jaleel said that the Centre was not informed at the request of the Consul General.
Meanwhile, the NIA will examine Jaleel’s statement in detail today. However, the probe team has not given a clean chit to the Minister.
