Thiruvananthapuram: In a major setback for Pinarayi Vijayan-led government, the CJM court rejected government’s demand to withdraw case pertaining to Kerala Assembly ruckus 2015. The Thiruvananthapuram Chief Judicial Magistrate court has given a decisive verdict in the case involving ministers EP Jayarajan and KT Jaleel.
The court refused to withdraw the case as the accused were booked for offences including damaging of public property.
The then opposition LDF unleashed violence in the Assembly on March 13, 2015 in protest of KM Mani’s presentation of the budget amid allegations of corruption. The LDF alleged that Mani had accepted Rs 1 crore as bribe to open closed bars.
It was one of the worst ruckus that Kerala witnessed in the Assembly. The Opposition entered into Speaker’s chamber and toppled the chair and several computers were dismantled.
