Pathanamthitta: Priest V K Jayaraj Potti has been chosen as the Melsanthi (head priest) of the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala.
Jayaraj was selected through a draw of lots on Saturday. A native of Kodungalloor, Thrissur, Jayaraj will be the Sabarimala melsanthi for the next year. He is a member of Pooppathi Poyya Varikkattu Math.
At the same time, Rajikumar M N, an Angamaly native, has been selected as the Melsanthi at the Malikappuram Devi Temple.
Both priests will take charge of the pilgrimage season from November 16.
