Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch revealed that organ trade is rampant in the state. Investigation into the case has been registered by the Crime Branch. Also illegal trade of organs have been reported in the state.
Thrissur Crime Branch SP is investigating the matter. The development comes after a report submitted by IG Sreejith pointed out that several illegal organ trade took place in Kerala during the last 2 years. Following this, DGP Loknath Behera ordered a probe into the case.
As per reports, the illegal organ trade was prevalent in Thrissur and Kodungallur area in the state. According to the Crime Branch report, it is noteworthy that government employees are also involved in the organ trade and the organs including kidney are sold with the help of middlemen.
