Kochi: In a setback for M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Chief Minister, the WhatsApp chat history between him and his chartered accountant Venugopal Iyer has been received by Janam TV.
With the chat history coming to light, it has been now clear that Sivasankar was involved in money laundering. However, he had denied his involvement in the case. Evidence including these were submitted by Enforcement Directorate in court the other day.
Venugopal had given statements against Sivasankar but the latter had denied all such allegations. Sivasankar in his statement stated that he had only directed Venugopal to give instructions to Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case, to open the locker.
However, both of them had a talk about depositing money in the locker for Swapna Suresh.
Details of the chat from November 2018 have now come out. The two discussed how to handle the investment. The ED in the court submitted evidence proving that everything said by Sivasankar was a blatant lie.
Earlier, media reports claimed that Swapna Sursh and Venugopal opened a joint locker and funds received from Life Mission deal and gold smuggling was deposited in this.
