Kochi: NDA declares win against the UDF candidate in the North Island ward of the Cochin Corporation. NDA candidate Padmakumari TA won against the UDF candidate N.Venugopal against a majority of 1 vote as the results of the local body elections came earlier today.
The defeat of N.Venugopal who was most likely to be picked as the mayor of the Cochin Corporation, has driven for shockwaves in the UDF camp. N.Venugopal, KPCC General Secretary and former GDCA chairman, facing several corruption allegations, was also booked under IPC Sections 403, 408 and 34 in a case related to missing of valuables from the official residence of GDCA chairman.
