Malappuram: Gold worth Rs1.84 Crores seized from Karippur Airport in last 3 days. The Airport Air Intelligence team seized 3664 grams of gold worth Rs1crore 84 lakh in five different cases in three days.
The 370 grams of gold was seized from Aayishath, a Kasargod resident, who reached at Karippur by Air India express IX 1346 on 15th from Dubai. He was caught while trying to smuggle gold which was cut into small pieces inside the waistline of some pants in his luggage.
Kozhikode resident Sally, who arrived on a SG 141 Spice Jet flight from Dubai on16th, was caught with 707.10 grams and a passenger named Anas with 960.8 grams of gold while trying to smuggle it in the form of capsules.
Anwar, a native of Kasargod, who arrived on SG 141 Spice Jet flight from Dubai on the 17th, was caught trying to smuggle 601 grams of gold foil in cardboard boxes. Kadalundi Shibulal, a passenger on a FZ 4313 Fly Dubai flight from Dubai on the 17th, was apprehended while trying to smuggle 1025 grams of gold in the form of capsules.
The gold was seized by a team that was led by Deputy Commissioner Vaagish Kumar and Asst. Commissioner Surendranath, comprising Superintendents E G Ganapathi Potti, M Prakash, M K Jose, Asha S, Inspectors Sudhir Kumar, Yasir Arafat, Naresh G, Minimol VC, Yogesh Yadav, Ramendra Singh and Sanjeev Kumar Havildars Francis and Ashokan.
