Palakkad: CPM Activists attacked the Parappanakuzhi Subramanyaswamy temple during victory rally in Thrikkadiyur. The attackers destroyed the Lamps, treasures and other temple properties. The temple officials informed that the money in the treasury was also stolen. Police arrested 11 activists, including members of the CPM branch committee, in connection with the incident.
The incident took place around 9:30 last night. The organized CPM activists first threw stones at the temple and then destroyed the belongings. The money which was kept at the temple has also been stolen. They also smashed two-wheelers parked near the temple.
The house of the BJP panchayat president was also attacked. Locals said women and children who were at home were assaulted.
Cherpulassery police have arrested 11 people, including members of the CPM branch committee, in connection with the incident as the local people raised their strong protest against the attackers. The police registered a case against the attackers on charges of attempt to murder, inciting religious hatred and attempt to incite communal violence.
