Thiruvananthapuram: The State Police chief on Thursday directed all the District Police chiefs to strictly enforce the Government order which imposes restrictions for New Year celebrations. The police will ensure that there will not be crowds after 10 pm on the New Year night. Drone surveillance will also be used to ensure the same.
Special instructions have been issued to ensure the safety of families, women and foreigners visiting tourist destinations and public places. It will ensured that hotels and other corridors compliance with safety protocol. Special inspections will be carried out at state borders, coastal areas and trains to prevent drug trafficking. There will also be inspections at major centers to detect drunk driving and speeding. Women police will also be deployed where required.
Senior officials will also be on duty in public places. The police vigil will continue till 10 pm on January 1.
The police chief also directed that police should not unnecessarily interfere in celebrations at homes and other places and treatment of the public should be dignified.
