Thiruvananthapuram: The Athiyannur Village office on Wednesday confirmed that the disputed land in Neyyatinkara Couple Death case is owned by the complainant Vasantha. The Tehsildar submitted report to the collector that the deceased couple had encroached on the land which Vasantha had purchased from a person named Sugandhi.

Vasantha had claimed that the disputed land in Lakshamveed Colony had been handed over to her and that she had licence over the land whereas Rajan’s position was that there was not. It is in this context that the Collector asked the Tehsildar to submit a report on the ownership of the land.

On vasantha’s plea, the Munsif court ruled that Rajan and his family should be evicted from the land on December 22. It was on this basis that the police came to evacuate them which was followed by the Suicidal threat and the accidental death of the couple Rajan and Ambili.
