Kochi: The first batch of Corona vaccine reached has reached Kochi. The Go Air flight with vaccine reached the Nedumbassery Airport in the morning. 1,33,500 doses of vaccine arrived in 25 boxes. The next batch of the vaccine will reach Thiruvananthapuram at 6 pm today. The vaccine will be distributed to different districts from three regional centers in the state.
In the first phase, the center will supply 4,35,500 doses of Covishield vaccine in Kerala. Among these, 1,100 doses is to be distributed in Mahe. The state government had asked the Centre to give priority to the distribution of vaccines in view of the increasing number of Covid patients in Kerala.
About 100 people will be vaccinated daily from each center. In the first phase, the vaccine will be given to 359549 health workers in government and private sectors. The vaccine will first be delivered to regional warehouses in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. From here they will be transported in specially arranged vehicles to the vaccination centers in different districts. There are 133 vaccination centers in the state, 12 in Ernakulam district, 11 each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts and 9 each in the remaining districts.
The vaccine will be delivered from Thiruvananthapuram warehouse to Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram vaccination centers, from Kochi warehouse to Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts and from Kozhikode to Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kozhikode centers.
