Thiruvananthapuram: In the final Budget of Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government, Finance Minister Thomas Issac announces welfare fund for employment guarantee workers which will come into effect soon. Pension will be given to those who do not have other pensions among the guaranteed workers.
The government has set aside an amount of 4,047 crore in the budget for the Employment Guarantee Scheme. The Finance Minister announced that 75 days of employment would be guaranteed. Those who have worked for 75 days, the festival allowance will be given through the welfare fund. Those who have worked for at least 20 days will be eligible for Welfare Fund membership.
7500 crore has been earmarked for livelihood related projects. In the budget announcement, the minister said that two lakh jobs would be created in the agricultural sector and three lakh in the non-agricultural sector.
