Vice President, Prime Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan condole death of Philipose Mar Chrysostom

have condoled the death of Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom, who passed away at a private hospital in Kumbanad town in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala due to age related ailments early on Wednesday.

Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mr Naidu said, ‘Saddened by the demise of Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan.

As the longest-serving bishop in India, he has done yeoman service to humanity throughout his life. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness and warmth that touched one and all.’

Mr Modi tweeted, ‘Saddened by the demise of His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan.

He will be remembered for his rich theological knowledge and many efforts to remove human suffering. Condolences to the members of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church’.

Mr Vijayan in a tweet said ‘Padma Bhushan Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Valiya Metropolitan brought people together transcending the boundaries of religion and politics, cared for them and made them laugh. Beloved thirumeni’s passing is a loss to humanity, a void that cannot be filled.
