A Kerala woman working in Israel, was killed in a rocket strike from Gaza on Tuesday. The rocket fell on the residence of 31-year-old Soumya Santhosh, a resident of Idukki, who had been working in the city of Ashkelon located in Israel.
At the time of the rocket strike, she was talking to her husband Santhosh, who is in Kerala, over a video call.
Soumya was working as a caregiver attending to an old woman at a house in the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon. She has a nine-year-old son whom she had left with her husband in Kerala.
More than 1,000 rockets were fired at Israel by Palestinian forces from the Gaza Strip. The fighting came after weeks of rising tensions that were stoked by violent confrontations between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters at a site in Jerusalem that is holy to both Muslims and Jews.
