An Orange Alert has been issued in six districts in Kerala following the formation of low pressure over southeast Arabian Sea on Thursday.
The Orange Alert was issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam districts, according to the State Disaster Management Control Room, here this evening.
A Yellow Alert was issued in five districts, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
A low pressure area has formed over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area on Thursday morning.
It is very likely to become well marked over Lakshadweep area by May 14th morning, concentrate into a Depression over the same region by May 15th morning and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours.
It is very likely to intensify further and move north-northwestwards towards Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts. It is likely to reach near Gujarat coast around May 18 evening.
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on May 13 and 14 and thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty wind speed reaching 40–50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places from May 14 to 16.
