Complaint has lodged against Mathrubhumi news channel and anchor Hashmi Taj Ibrahim accusing non factual news was presented in the channel which has shown the entire country in a bad light. Yuvamorcha district president from Palakkad, Prashanth Shivan filed a complaint with the Central Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and Kerala Police Chief.
On April 23, in the opening remark of Mathrubhumi‘s Prime Time, Hashmi blantantly lied and explained things according to his whims and fancies, Prashanth Shivan accuses. As per Delhi High court’s order, Delhi government has submitted a detailed report by the expert committee that on that day not a single person in Delhi died of shortage of oxygen. The copy of the report is added with the complaint.
On April 23, while presenting the news in the evening, Hashmi told that in Ganga Ram hospital in Delhi 25 people died due to shortage of oxygen. But on the same evening at 3 pm Ganga Ram hospital chief explained to the media that no one died because of oxygen shortage and the news was false. Although the facts were easily available in the public portal, Mathrubhumi and Hashmi didn’t even take the minimum journalistic ethics to check the facts. Instead they twisted the facts to their own liking. This was purposely done to create uproar among people against the Indian government. It is such a shame that Mathrubhumi has stooped so low.
The complaint has filed to Central Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Central Minister L Murugan and also to Kerala Police Chief. As there are viewers for Mathrubhumi outside Kerala, complaint is likely to be filed from other states of India as well, Prashanth Shivan explains.
