Thiruvananthapuram: On the basis of flood forecast from the Central Water Commission, National Disaster Response Force will reach Kerala today. Central Water Commission warns the possibility of flash flood in all districts of the State. Water level of Manimalayar in Pathanamthitta district is rising and status of all other rivers is under observation, says Water Commission .
The India meteorological department has said that heavy downpours are likely in various parts of the State. IMD has predicted red alert for five districts. Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts are those issued with red alert. Nine districts with yellow alert are Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasarkod.
Weather department also predicts that more than 204.5 mm rainfall will be received within 24 hours . People living in low-lying areas are suggested to obey the instructions given by the authorities and to shift to safe places.
