Kochi:BJP State General Secretary K Surendran, who was arrested with ‘irumudikkett’ from Sabarimala, has secured bail. The conditional bail is granted by the High Court.
Surendran was alleged of making plot against a woman pilgrim who visited Sabarimala. However Surendran had approached HC claiming that the charges against him are invalid. Surendran was arrested for another case and later on his name was added to this case out of vengeance. Surendran’s bail plea pointed out that, he was trapped purposefully.
HC asked the Government that, how long it is planning to keep Surendrasn under custody like this. The State Government opposed the bail request by Surendran, State argued that Surendran will proceed with strike at Sabarimala if he gets bail. HC considered the State’s argument and revert to it with a question, is Surendran directly involved in the case. The Government responded Surendran had provoked the protesters to stop the women, provocation is the crime in which Surendran was jailed. The Court proceeded to grant bail as the arguments by the Government were proved to be invalid.
