Trissur: An Excise team found 220 cannabis plants being farmed in an isolated piece of land in Kodungallur. The plants were confiscated by Excise officers led by Range Inspector, M Shamnad.
The operation was undertaken after Excise department received a tip off. Following the investigation, the officers were able to uncover a large amount of cannabis being grown illegally. Reports say that the Excise had confiscated cannabis plants being grown in a similar manner in the region, one week earlier.
Excise Inspector told the media that the department got information that many culprits who were involved in drug cases use to frequent the Erumakora area in Kodungallur, where the cannabis was found. Investigations are progressing to nab all the accused behind the illegal farming of cannabis plants.
The other members of the Excise team include Preventive Officer PV Benny, Civil Excise Officers S Afsal and AS Rihas.
