Thiruvananthapuram: It is expected that the state will receive heavy rainfall today. Yellow Alert has been announced in six districts – Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Trissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted very heavy rainfall in some areas.
The forecast also says that heavy rainfall is expected in the Eastern part of the state. As the sea is rough the fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea. Those who are living in the coastal areas and the hilly regions are also advised to be on alert.
It is expected that the intensity of the rainfall will get low by tomorrow, however, the summer rain will continue for three more days. By Saturday, a cyclone will be formed in the South Eastern region of the Bay of Bengal and within 48 hours it will form into a depression. This might intensify the rainfall in the coming week. Fishermen are not allowed to go to sea in Kerala and Lakshadweep.
