Malappuram: PV Anwar, the LDF independent MLA, said that prayers at public functions must be avoided. He also demanded that the LDF government take a policy decision in this regard. He was speaking at a public function in Manjeri, when he made these comments.
The Nilambur MLA said that belief in God must remain in everyone’s mind. There are people in the audience who are not believers. During the prayer, a person who had issues with his leg had to get up with the help of another person.
Anwar asked to avoid unnecessary customs like prayers. The MLA added that he would raise the issue in the legislative assembly.
The MLA had demanded the removal of prayer from public functions when ministers K Rajan and V Abdul Rehman were present on stage.
PV Anwar is the independent MLA from Nilambur, supported by the CPI(M) led LDF government. He is a businessman and politician who started out his career in Congress and later switched to communism. He has landed in many controversies like land encroachment and illegal construction.
