Ernakulam: The High Court of Kerala have congratulated the natives who risked their own lives to save those who were in the boat that got capsized. The court also ordered the registrar to file a case in the incident.

The Chief Secretary, Municipality, District Police chief, Collector, and the port officer will be the opposite parties.

The High Court has directed the District Collector to submit the primary report by May 12th. The court also observed that it cannot turn a blind eye to this disaster and reminded that this is not the first incident in Kerala.

The Court inquired who all were the officers that were responsible. The death of 22 persons is very saddening. The court also observed that the boat operator is not the sole responsible person. There might have been others who helped him continue a boat service like this.

This incident is not the first one in Kerala. There have been many investigations, findings and suggestions in the past. However, everyone have forgotten everything. After many years, similar incidents are repeated, criticized Justice Devan Ramachandran.

Meanwhile, the police have charged the owner of the boat, Nassar, under IPC 302 for murder. The boat driver and  his assistant are still on the run.
