Kozhikode: The stir against the government has intensified following the killing of a lady doctor by an accused in police custody. The student organization, ABVP, staged a protest against the Health Minister, Veena George, and burned her effigy. ABVP demanded an apology from the minister for her irresponsible remarks in the incident.
The student organization said that even after continuous attacks against health workers, the government has failed to provide adequate security for them. Incidents in Kerala show that no importance is given to the security of the doctors.
ABVP State Secretary, NCT Srihari, told that the Health Minister’s statement is reprehensible and that she must apologize for it.
ABVP also accused the police of gross negligence as the accused had stabbed the doctor while he was in police custody and demanded that the Home Ministry must answer for it. Incidentally, the Home Ministry is under the Chief Minister.
