Malappuram: Reports say that Tanur MLA and Minister in the current government, V Abdurahiman, has formally joined the CPI(M). He had left Congress seven years ago. He had won the Tanur legislative seat in 2021 as an independent with the support of the CPI(M).
It is reported that Abdurahiman will be inducted into the Tanur Area Committee of the communist party.
Incidentally, V Abdurahiman is currently facing lot of criticism after the Tanur boat accident in his constituency, which left 22 dead. There were allegations that he had ridiculed a person who tried to warn the minister about the condition of the boat earlier, which later capsized causing the accident.
There was also a report that a minister’s office was involved in releasing the ill-fated boat, when the police had confiscated it after complaints were raised a few weeks before the accident.
