Palakkad:  The Kerala Government Medical Officer’s Association has complained against Kongad MLA, Santhakumari K, for misbehaving with health workers. The doctors complained that she misbehaved when she brought her husband to the hospital for treatment.

The doctors of the Palakkad District Hospital raised the complaints against the CPI(M) MLA. In the complaint, the doctors say that they were insulted by Santhakumari. They have forwarded their complaint to the Health Minister.

According to the complaint, the MLA had brought her husband to the casualty with fever. The duty doctor touched the patient’s forehead and prescribed medicines. This infuriated the MLA and she asked why a thermometer is not used. She also insulted the doctors by saying that it is because of your behavior that things like this occur.

The incident turned controversial because it was only two days ago that a lady doctor was stabbed to death by an accused in a government hospital. The doctors were on strike since the murder, protesting against the killing and demanding better security.

Santhakumari denied misbehaving with the doctors and said that she only said that doctors must consider everyone equally. She said that she has clarified it to the DMO and added that she will apologize if there is need.
