Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader and actor Suresh Gopi said during a media interaction in Thiruvananthapuram that officials will conduct investigations regarding the use of drugs in film locations.

Suresh Gopi said that some information in connection to this was revealed and the officials will do as necessary. He said that a lawful cleansing of the film industry will occur.

The use of drugs among actors in film sets has been under the limelight of discussions for a while now. Ever since actors Sreenath Bhasi and Shane Nigam were banned from the Producers’ Association and FEFKA, numerous reports of drug use have surfaced. The actors were banned on basis of erratic behaviour on the sets and caused issues at sets.

Afterwards few noted celebrities in the industry shared their views on the use of narcotics and its users, urging for an investigation.

Earlier on Sunday, Kochi city police commissioner K Sethuraman had said that shadow police will be deployed at film locations.
