‘BJP and Congress hatching master plan to destabilize LDF government’: Bizarre claim by PWD Minister Mohammed Riyas in response to widespread criticisms against government

Kozhikode: LDF government under Pinarayi Vijayan has been facing a lot of flak from the people for corruption, mismanagement and crime. The government has been under criticism continuously that it has left top communist leaders and cyber activists gasping for breath in their efforts to justify the government.

Now, the PWD Minister, and son-in-law to the Chief Minister, Mohammed Riyas, has come up with a bizarre claim to shut criticisms against the government. He claims that the BJP and Congress are hatching a master plan to destabilize the LDF government and prevent it from returning to power in the next elections.

Mohammed Riyas added that as part of this plan they (BJP and Congress) are protesting against everything. He said that BJP state leadership and some Congress leaders have jointly made the master plan.

Political experts believe that it is a ploy by the minister to deflect the blame of mismanagement of the government on to those who are protesting against it. The latest example of the government’s mismanagement is the Tanur boat accident that killed 22 persons.

The ill-fated boat operated without adequate documents and was faulty. Government officials are believed to have helped the boat owner’s move to convert a normal fishing boat into a cruise boat for tourists.

After many complaints were raised against the boat’s safety and documents, the police had confiscated the boat. However, allegations were raised after it was let off when a minister’s local office intervened in the matter.

Additional allegations were raised by a fisherman Muhajid, who claimed that he tried to complain to the Tanur MLA and Minister, V Abdurahiman about the boat. He tried to bring to the attention of the minister that the boat was functioning without proper registration.

Instead of hearing the complaint, the minister got angry with him. Mujahid also tried to speak with Mohammed Riyas but he cleverly avoided confronting him.

Had serious note of the complaint was taken into consideration, a huge tragedy could have been averted.

This is the sheer scale of mismanagement and it has seeped into every aspect of the government.

Added to this is the scale of crime and corruption, which is rampant. Two days ago a lady doctor was stabbed to death in a government hospital by an accused in police custody, while she was tending to the wounds of the accused. The accused, an upper primary school teacher, is a drug addict and habitual drinker.

The crime which took place in police presence exposes the level of training police officers are getting to prevent crime as it happens.

Incidentally, the home ministry is handled by the CM himself.

Every protest against corruption, crime and management is blamed as anti – Kerala. Every dissenting voice is dubbed as being in cahoots with the central government and the RSS.

As such, Mohammed Riyas’ bizarre claim can also be seen as another vain attempt by the state government to blame others and hide their colossal failures.
