Thiruvananthapuram: While considering bail applications of five accused for possession of drugs, the government admitted in court that the new generation is addicted to drugs and that it needs the support of the court in the fight against this.
The sixth Additional District Session Court judge, K Vishnu, dismissed the bail petitions. The government told the court that it needs the support of the courts too in its fight against chemical drugs.
If the court allows bail to the accused, a situation arises where they get arrested again for the same crime. To avoid this, the accused should not be granted bail, argued Additional Public Prosecutor, M Salahudeen. The court accepted the government’s argument and dismissed all the bail petitions.
The court had dismissed the bail petitions of SS Saeydali, Muhammad Haneef, Nadirshah, Kamal Rashid and Sanuj for possession of drugs including MDMA, LSD, etc.
