Congress cannot defeat BJP in India, even they don’t lay claim to that; BJP secured more than 50% votes in Gujarat: MV Govindan

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that the Congress cannot defeat BJP in India. Pointing out BJP’s massive victory in Gujarat, which was said to be a major power centre of Congress, MV Govindan stated that the Congress cannot eliminate BJP by just winning in Karnataka.

“The only relief is that the BJP is overthrown from South India. To defeat BJP in India, we need to consolidate anti-BJP votes. If we are able to do so, then we can defeat BJP in 2024 assembly elections”, said Govindan.

“Karnataka election results do not indicate a comeback of Congress. Does Congress work only in one state? Gujarat was the biggest power centre of the Congress. BJP secured more than 50% votes in Gujarat. Congress on its own cannot free India of BJP. Even they do not lay claim to that”, he told the media.
