Thiruvananthapuram: The DYFI had to face severe criticism for its initial silence over the suicide of Asmiya mol under mysterious circumstances at an Islamic study center. The communist youth organization even distanced itself from a poster, which protested against the death of Asmiya mol. The DYFI was quick to publically disown the poster, which came out in its name.

However, the public are questioning the DYFI’s stand in Asmiya mol’s suicide. Criticisms are growing saying that the communist youth organization, which raises a huge hue and cry over incidents in North India, are silent on the death of Asmiya mol because of fear from Islamists. They critics point out that DYFI’s refusal to respond to the incident is because of religion.

Realizing that criticisms are increasing against DYFI, they finally decided to publish a statement. In the statement the organization says that it is shocked at the death of Asmiya mol at the Al Ameen religious study center under mysterious circumstances. It asks the police to properly investigate the accusations raised by the victim’s family. It also demanded that authorities must make sure that more security is provided to institutions where children live and study.

Other than this, the DYFI has refrained from protesting and coming forward to get justice for Asmiya mol.

Critics point out that the organization’s statement was careful not to hurt anyone and it seems like it was written to save face without ruffling any feathers.
