Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala University has caught red-handed an SFI leader’s bid to impersonate as the college counselor to gain entry into the University Union. The Principal of the college, who is alleged to have helped the leader, said it was a mistake. However, the principal has been summoned by the Kerala University to appear in person.
The incident happened at the Christian College in Kattakadda. In the election, a girl named Anakha had won as the University Union Counselor. However, the college authorities while sending the names to the University replaced Anakha’s name with Vishak, who is the Area Secretary of SFI. When the irregularity became public, the Principal in a bid to save face told that it was a mistake.
The Kerala University has expressed its suspicion in many of the procedures, including that of the election procedures. The University said that strong action will be taken against these irregularities.
In the college union election, Anakha and Aromal had won the University Union Counselor seats from the SFI panel. However, when the college sent the names of the counselors to the Kerala University, they replaced Anakha’s name with SFI leader A Vishak, who is a first year BSc student.
Vishak had not contested in the college election. It is believed that the plan was to make Vishak the Kerala University UnioPreview (opens in a new tab)n Chairman.
