Kozhikode: The police have arrested a woman while attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 1.17 core via Karipur airport. Kozhikode Kunnamangalam native Shabna was arrested by the police outside the airport. 1884 grams of gold was seized from her.
Shabna managed to clear Customs inspection and came out the airport. But she was arrested after the police inspected her car. She came from Jeddah on SpiceJet flight. She tried to smuggle over 1 kg gold hidden in her underwear as gold mixture.
In a separate incident, a couple was arrested at Karipur airport for smuggling gold worth Rs 1.15 crore while they were travelling with kids.
