Kottayam: The Kerala Congress Joseph group has been uneasy ever since the UDF invited Kerala Congress (M), led by Jose K Mani, back to its fold. The Joseph group is trying to stall its rival’s entry by arguing that that Kerala Congress (M) could not win in its own turf that is Pala.
By highlighting that the Jose K Mani led Kerala Congress was defeated in Pala, the Joseph group is trying to show that Kerala Congress (M) do not have strength. Though, PJ Joseph presented this argument in a mocking way, it is believed that this agreement is Joseph’s group weapon to prevent the entry of Kerala Congress (M) in to UDF.
The Joseph faction is worried that they would be sidelined in UDF if Jose K Mani and his Kerala Congress (M) return back to the Congress led front. Therefore, the Joseph faction has decided to strongly oppose the move in the UDF meeting.
However, Jose K Mani has still not responded about returning to UDF. As the Parliamentary elections are around the corner, whatever decision is taken by Jose K Mani will surely have repercussions across central Kerala.
Kerala Congress (M) is currently allied with the LDF led by CPI(M). The party leader Jose K Mani had failed to win from Pala constituency in the 2021 assembly elections.
