Thiruvananthapuram: The investigation into the death of seventeen year old Asmiya mol at a madrasa in Balaramapuram is progressing. The protests are intensifying against the madrasa and the teachers who taught her.
Asmiya mol’s mother, Rahmath Bivi, has now come against the Usthad and other teachers at the madrasa. She told the media that the Usthad had beaten Asmiya mol and another teacher had always cursed her.
Rahmath Bivi said that a teacher used to always curse Asmiya mol and tell her that she will not amount to anything in the world. Asmiya mol had asked Rahmath to mention this to the Usthad. However, he scolded Asmiya mol for mentioning it to her mother.
Rahmath continued that when she called Asmiya mol on Friday, the Usthad took the phone and said that she will call back tomorrow and quickly cut the phone. When Asmiya mol called on Saturday, she was crying profusely and requested Rahmath to take her home. Asmiya mol also said that she was not allowed to talk with anyone and was locked up in a room.
The mother also told the media that the Usthad told her that Asmiya mol is talkative when she is in the namaz hall and that he has given her enough for that.
He also told her that Asmiya mol is feeling ill and asked her to come in an auto.
Rahmath said that no one from the institution came with her to the hospital. She also did not know the location of any nearby hospital. She thought that Asmiya mol was unconscious. It was only later that she realized that her daughter had committed suicide.
She asked the media why her daughter committed suicide and why she was locked up in a room alone.
