Kottayam: Three persons lost their lives after being mauled by wild buffaloes in two separate incidents in Kerala. The attack took place at Erumeli in Kottayam district and at Anchal in Kollam district.
The deceased were Purathel Chackochan (70) and Thomas (60) from Kottayam and Samuel Varghese (65) in Kollam district.
Reports say that on Thursday morning Chackochan was in front of his house reading newspaper when a wild buffalo attacked and killed him. The buffalo then went to a nearby rubber plantation and attacked Thomas. Thomas died later in hospital.
In Kollam, a wild buffalo killed Samuel Varghese, while he was standing in his rubber plantation. The buffalo attacked him from behind. Though he was rushed to a private hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. He had returned from the Gulf the other day.
In recent times, attacks by wild animals on people and property have increased in frequency and many lives have been lost.
