Thiruvananthapuram: The management of Kattakada Christian College has suspended college Principal Dr GJ Saiju in the election impersonation row. The action was taken as the Registrar of Kerala University had sent a letter to the college demanding action against the Principal. In the letter it was stated that the university would take harsh measures including cancelling the affiliation if action is not taken against the Principal. Dr KN Nishad has been appointed as the new Principal.
SFI leader Visakh, who is the second accused in the case, has also been suspended.
At the same time, CPM has directed the district leaders to desist from making public comments in the impersonation row. With this, the internal conflict in CPM has come out. CPM district leadership has warned Kattakada MLA IB Satheesh and Aruvikkara MLA G Stephen not to make public comments. The action was taken after the MLAs submitted letter stating that they are not involved in the impersonation row.
Also, the party has launched probe against them. CPM district secretariat members DK Murali and Pushpalatha are investigating the issue. It is reported that apart from MLAs, CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan and Kadakampally Surendran are also linked to this. But the party is trying to save the leaders by trapping the MLAs.
