Kasaragod: The explosives found by Excise department from a house and car is huge with 2,800 gelatin sticks and 7000 detonators said a report. The Kasaragod police arrested Mustafa under the Explosive Substances Act.
Mustafa tried to slash his wrist while the police were busy with procedures, said a report. He is taken to a private hospital in Kasaragod.
The Excise department came across this huge cache of explosives while conducting a raid at Mustafa’s house believing he was involved in drugs or liquor smuggling. They also discovered boxes in a SUV in parked the compound containing several cartons.
However, on investigation, the officers found 2,800 gelatin sticks, one dynamite, 7000 detonators and five rounds of wires in the cartons found in the SUV. Some were recovered from the house also.
Mustafa said that he supplies explosives to quarries. However, the police are still to verify his claim. The police said that it is illegal to store explosives in cars and houses.
