Thiruvananthapuram: Media report said that BJP State President, K Surendran, has accused the Kerala government of not monitoring sleeper cells in the state. He doubted that terrorism was behind the burning of the train at Kannur railway station.
According to media reports, K Surendran said that the government is not monitoring the activities of sleeper cells connected to religious terror organizations. He said that the government has failed in its duty.
The BJP President also revealed that the sleeper cells of the banned organization PFI is still active. He accused the government of supporting them because the government is in alliance with the political wing of PFI, reported the media.
The government has failed to find out about these sleeper cells and to suppress it. He added that the government is trying to block the NIA investigations. The government is sacrificing national security for vote bank.
The BJP leader said that the people are anxious because of the ineptness of the government. He also quipped that PWD Minister Muhammad Riyas and Muslim League PK Kunhalikutty are busy trying to recruit PFI activists into their own party.
A coach of the Alappuzha-Kannur train was burned in the wee hours of Thursday. The train was lying at the Kannur railway station after its engine was detached. CCTV visuals have captured a man carrying a can walking towards the train.
This is the same train that came under attack by Sharukh Saifi on April 2, when he poured inflammable substance on passengers and set fire. Three persons were killed in that incident after they jumped from the moving compartment. Kerala police had handed over the case to NIA.
The NIA has sought information of today’s train arson from Kerala police.
