Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst a financial crisis in the state, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is preparing for his upcoming trips to the United States and Cuba. Tomorrow, he will depart from Thiruvananthapuram for his foreign visits, which will extend until the 18th of this month. The government has allocated a daily budget of $100 USD for the United States visit and $75 USD for the Cuba visit. Similar to previous occasions, the Chief Minister intends to travel without delegating responsibilities to others.
The purpose of the US visit primarily revolves around the ‘Loka Kerala Sabha’ meeting scheduled to be held in New York from June 9 to 11. As the chairman of ‘Loka Kerala Sabha,’ the Kerala CM will also address the event.
Accompanying him on the trip to the US will be Finance Minister K N Balagopal, Speaker AN Shamseer, Chief Secretary VP Joy, Planning Board Vice-Chairman VK Ramachandran, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister K M Abraham, and other IAS officials.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister will proceed to Cuba, with the visit focusing on cooperation in the field of health. Health Minister Veena George, the Vice Chairman of the Planning Board, the Chief Secretary, and the Secretary of the Health Department will join him during this leg of the journey.
