Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State President, K Surendran, lashed out against the police action against a news reporter for bringing out an SFI leader’s fake mark list news. The BJP President said that the police action is an assault to the freedom of the press.
K Surendran added that the police have turned into an agent of the ruling political party. Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan is suppressing the voices raised against CPI(M) and the government.
The BJP leader said that his party is not ready to accept if CPI(M) thinks that young comrades can do anything they like in Kerala. He also said that the actions of the communist government evoke the days of emergency. He called upon every supporter of democracy to come together against the government’s actions.
Reports say that the police took a case against news reporter Akhila Nandakumar for covering the story of SFI leader, P Arsho, who got a pass in his semester exams without even attending it. She brought out the mark list controversy after interviewing students at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam, where P Arsho is a student of Archaeology.
Arsho is the SFI State Secretary. When the news of his forged mark list came out, he approached the police and complained about a conspiracy against him. The Kochi Central Police registered a case against reporter Akhila Nandakumar. It is alleged that the reporter was booked without even conducting a preliminary investigation into the matter.
