Thiruvananthapuram: According to a news report, the medical board said that the accused in the murder of Dr. Vandana Das do not have any mental health issues. However, he has a tendency to engage in anti-social activities and enjoys harming others.
The medical board in its report to the Crime Branch said that the use of drugs might have altered his character.
The news report also said that there is no evidence that Sandeep was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime. There is also no evidence that he was under the influence of any chemical drugs. His blood samples were tested but the results were negative.
The investigating officers said that as Sandeep was violent at that time, it was only later that the police could collect Sandeep’s blood samples for testing.
He had told the doctors that he used to consume alcohol but had refrained from it and was under treatment. Doctors think that Sandeep became violent after using intoxicating substances again after stopping it for a while.
However, the local residents near Sandeep’s house say that he was an alcoholic and when it became worse, his wife and children left him. During the day of the crime, he was seen around his house shouting.
The police arrived on the scene after Sandeep called them complaining that someone was trying to kill him. He was taken to the taluk hospital to treat a wound on his legs. There while Dr. Vandana was treating him, he got violent and attacked the police and the workers at the hospital. Then he stabbed Vandana several times, which resulted in her death.
